Abstract

Efforts to prevent the occurrence of ARI, it is necessary to have a clean and healthy lifestyle, one of which is by not smoking. But the phenomenon in society, smoking is a thing that becomes a habit and difficult to stop. The purpose of this study was to find out the description of knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of people in the use of cigarettes. Special purpose research: (1) Identifying the characteristics of respondents, including: age, education, employment; (2) Identifying the description of community knowledge in the use of cigarettes; (3) Identifying the description of the community's attitude in the use of cigarettes; (4) Identifying the description of community behavior in the use of cigarettes. This study is retrospective using a descriptive descriptive correlational research design with a cross-sectional approach. The study was conducted on all residents who lived more than 6 months who used temporary cigarettes totaling 50 people. Determination of sample size using total sampling technique. The data collection tool uses a questionnaire. Data analysis using univariate analysis in the form of frequency distribution and Central Tendency which includes: mean, median, mode, standard deviation, minimum and maximum values. The results showed that the majority of respondents had low knowledge, positive attitudes, and negative behaviors in the use of cigarettes. Efforts are needed from health workers to increase public knowledge about the dangers of smoking to health through health education at all stages of age
